- Dalhousie University (Karen Foster) leads the SSHRC Common Ground Network, which is working to increase the accessibility and genuine use of social science and humanities expertise in the strategic pursuit of sustainable agricultural sectors and food systems to support a just transition to net-zero coast-to-coast-to-coast. Common Ground networks academic and community actors, including supporting part-time partnership coordination for FCN.
- Lakehead University (Charles Levkoe) leads the SSHRC Insight Grant identifying effective, innovative and collaborative approaches to food governance for building healthy, equitable, and sustainable food systems. FCN-RCN is a key community partner.
- Food Secure Canada was the network that brought communities together to identify the need for Food Communities Network, and has been a partner since.
- Just Food currently acts as administrative host for Food Communities Network.
Past Supporting Organizations
- MakeWay hosted FCN-RCN on its platform when it started in 2019 until 2023.
- Maple Leaf Centre for Action on Food Security provided seed funding for the first three years to assist in establishing the network.
- Mitacs sponsored part of the salaries of initial Network Coordinators.
- Saint Paul University (Amanda Wilson) led a SSHRC Partnership Engagement Grant, providing student support for research projects, in particular on the Food Communities Solutions project.
